carousel singapore

should never have taught this little one to swim, now she won't stop!

in other news, it's been one happy week of meet ups and chill outs. was back in the +65 on thursday and the time back in singers has really flown by. had pre-departure things to see to but will most definitely spare you the banality. went to au jardin for the first time and was suitably impressed. have had the pleasure of lunch out everyday for long overdue catch ups. what a luxury :) and there's much to look forward to this weekend! have absolutely no plans today because i've been running errands almost nonstop too so i wanted some time out. but come friday it's full steam ahead into the weekend. packed packed packed and i wouldn't have it any other way. looking forward to long anticipated girl time on friday, followed by a grown up dinner with a bunch of disgusting overachievers that i adore inspite of myself ;)

headed to universal studios with the folks on saturday, just so i will never have the same regret as TPL and looks like it's back to tbc on sunday for some sun (augh!) and squeezing with the beautiful people.

the latest addition to the zoo

we brought the newbie for her first outing today and she's by far the sweetest ball of fluff ever!

she's got beautiful lines!

but still a baby and scared of the water :(

so she has to make do with watching dad and presley (first swim since her confinement haha) from the shore.

awww :(

Who's Your Mummy Now

It was a case of mistaken mummy identity when we let the pups play with our boxers.

They’ve had their first round of vaccination and I’m all for their being socialized from an early age, be it with people or other dogs.

Little did I know that the first thing they’d do when unleashed on Bonnie was to go for her nipples!

It was quite a sight to behold. Our four remaining puppies just went straight for the mobile milk bar and poor Bon had this dazed, “WEHHH???” look on her face.

Bet she didn’t see that coming…

flash forward

today, my very lovely cousin natalie and her friends alexa and ariana did the sweetest thing! they offered to come over and bathe the puppies. they visited yesterday but the pups were sticky and smelt a wee bit funky so the trio decided to give them a bath! they came back today and i coordinated their visit from the office by remote control. texting home to let the help know when to expect them, and to let them in, and what to have ready etc. so nat and co. gave the pups a good scrub, then played with them in the sunshine.

and that's when i had a scary flash forward where i saw myself with not puppies but living breathing children, run off my feet not in an office but at a hospital with no time for them myself but having to resort to the kindness of relatives to clean, feed and photograph my sorely neglected offspring.

the worst part? i can't even sell the children once they're weaned like we're doing with the pups! oh nooo... ongoing responsibility that ONLY GETS BIGGER! dundundunnn...

how's that for a sobering thought!

guess who's one month old?

please don't judge but we had a first month party for the precious pups :) for the uninitiated, a first month or "man yue" as it is known is a chinese tradition to celebrate the birth of a baby. wikipedia tells me this practice stems from ancient times when hygiene wasn't that hot and the infant mortality rate was high. the family would only celebrate the baby's arrival if it made it through the first month, coinciding with the end of the mother's confinement period.

with purebreds that can be even more fragile than human babies, we didn't want to jump the gun in case the litter didn't clear the one month mark intact. but thankfully they did, and once we could we rallied some friends, got some red eggs (another first month tradition) and grabbed the opportunity to start socialising them puppies young.

the first photo is how we carry seven puppies from A to B, the second is a drowsy sahara in my cousin natalie's arms, and the third is a pup (augh! i don't know which...) passed out from all the excitement.

mind you, there were plenty of baby humans that day too and i'm a little small thing-ed out!

old soul

now the precious pups are older and have grown into their faces, we're getting better at telling them apart. allow me to present todd, the calmest of the lot. i love losing myself in his eyes. doesn't he look like such an old soul? :)

puppy play dates

two dear friends i'm very fond of came over to meet the puppies today. i've known P forever because our folks were pre-u (it wasn't even called JC then!) classmates and the whole gin gang, nowsadays with their offspring in tow, make a point to meet every christmas and new year. so i can attest to his being a fine young man as i'm sure ash's been told many times over :) and of course, ash of littlepaperplanes fame needs no introduction. if you aren't already a fan, do clicketyclick over and lose yourself in the wonderful world of ashley with her to-die-for parties and drool-worthy photos. that girl makes me yearn for a taste transplant! somebody gimme her amazing eye and impeccable taste pronto! and speaking of taste transplant, check out P's equally enviable pickings here.

so there you go! PAsh, my new favourite couple and puppies, my new favourite loves make for a wonderful rainy saturday afternoon :)

antisocial maxx

have lost all hips and haps urges since the pups were born. in the week, i'd rush home from work and spend the rest of the night hovering over their pen just watching them sleep. didn't realise how big a toll they'd take on my pseudo-social life when i spent my previously sacred friday evening passed out on the day bed with an equally comatose pup on my chest.

love how we begin belly to belly (see previous post with black puppy), and end heart to heart. consistently, the pups wriggle and squirm until they've made their way to my heart, then they stop and sleep ever so peacefully right there. might've woken before the puppy but not wanting to wake her, i did my very best to lie stock still until it was time for their next feed.

on a separate note, the 'white' pups are getting more golden by the day!

in other other news, maybe i'm just a teensy weensy bit excited to go to butter for the first time ever tonight.

belly to belly

love the tiny steps she takes as she wriggles across my belly on hers.

puppies day 1

sleeping pup

feeding time

we feed the three black babies

before the yellow (yes, it looks like white in the light). well, it doesn't really matter which pups go first, just that when juggling seven puppies, organisation and efficiency is key! and feeding by colour minimises confusion as to which pups have been fed and which haven't.

i'm officially moving into the kitchen to be near these precious widdle oogums. tempted to take the next two months off to care for them 24/7. if you happen to see my eyebags big enough to go grocery shopping with and general state of sleep deprivation, please understand that i was rostered to the night shift haha.

why have a baby when you can have seven puppies!

presley's puppies

was all ready to post about malacca when i was interrupted by the extremely punctual arrival of this bundle of joy. so far, it's been an all boy affair with the colour count standing two black and two yellow. we await the birth of the remaining three with bated breath. will they be boy puppies or girl puppies? what colour will they be? stay tuned!

p.s. in case you can't tell, they're labradors!
p.p.s i'm trying so very hard not to be superficial but i really really really hope we score at least one chocolate pup >.<
