as you might be able to guess, i fell in love with the apricot (not cherry!) blossoms on the compound :) alas, after the hot baths, we realised that even if we get hungrier and very politely ask for dinner to be served earlier, having committed to dining at 8pm (oh we thought we were being fashionably foreign...) upon check in was akin to setting the time in stone. no amount of cajoling and miming "I AM SO HUNGRY I COULD EAT A HORSE" worked. the proprietress maintained her smile, and denied us dinner at 630 instead :(
what to do? could not plead gaijin-immunity, knowing full well how much effort it takes into preparing the omakase. suppose if we appreciated the minute, minute-by-minute precision that went into the serving, we really weren't in a position to whinge that they wouldn't bring it out earlier. anyhoos the fish was so fresh the sous chef was probably still fishing for it at 630.
